Puerto de Pollensa

Sitting by a horseshoe-shaped bay 6 kilometres from the town of Pollensa is its port, Puerto de Pollensa. Originally a fishing village, Puerto de Pollensa's main attractions are its scenic surroundings, laid-back friendly atmosphere and charming cafes and restaurants.

Puerto de Pollensa retains the time old tradition of the evening paseo or stroll. On a warm, balmy Mallorcan evening, you will see lots of locals and tourists alike taking a stroll along Pine Walk, a much celebrated pedestrian promenade which skirts the bay. While on your walk, you will see live singers, sand sculptors and artists plying their trade.

Several elegant hotels line the promenade and overlook the wide sandy beach and the bay. Those willing to make the effort to be up for sunrise are rewarded with an inspiring experience as gentle waves lap the shore in the bluish light of dawn.

Shopping
While Puerto de Pollensa may not be as big a shopping Mecca as Inca or Palma de Mallorca, it hosts an adequate supply of shops and boutiques catering to the tourist trade. However, it is the lively local market that takes place in the church square every Sunday that delights visitors the most. Stalls are set up in Pollensa's side streets, filled with a colourful assortment of  fresh local produce and traditional arts and crafts.

Nightlife
Like everything else in Puerto de Pollensa, the scene after dark remains laid-back and quiet. In these parts, it is common for locals and tourists alike, to enjoy leisurely dinners in quaint sidewalk cafes. Nightclubbing is not big in Pollensa and the only form of night entertainment one could hope for would be within the lounge of one of the larger hotels.
