Campanet |

Existing on the fringe of the lush and wooded foothills of the Tramuntana mountains, the village of Campanet retains the traditional charm and priceless serenity of Mallorca´s inland villages. Within Campanet itself there are several bakeries, a church square and cosy cafes that serve up really delectable local delights. Besides the local delicatessens, the tapas bars are a must for those seeking to experience authentic Mallorcan food.
Campanet's main claim to fame are the limestone caves which are home to powdery white stalactites and a crystal clear subterranean lake. Also in the vicinity is the enchanting Lluc Monastery, the quaint hill village of Selva and the very picturesque village of Caimari. On Thursday mornings, the nearby town of Inca hosts the largest open market on Mallorca, selling everything from carved African figures and leatherware to embroidered tablecloths and ceramics. Picturesquely surrounded by holm oak and pine forests, Campanet has conserved itself as a peaceful backwater virtually untouched by commercialism. Recommended Books
