Originally a Muslim palace, converted to gothic by King Jaime II, this palace is perched on an escarpment that overlooks Palma Bay through a facade of arches and windows. The adjacent gardens are well conceived and maintained, featuring a statue from Juan Miro. The shady gardens with numerous fountains in front of the palace were designed by S´Hort del Rei.


A second, smaller courtyard called the Pati de la Reina (Queen´s Courtyard) has a porched gallery.  It is here that the Chapel of Sant Jaume is located. The Almudaina Palace faces a park where you can sit and soak in the history and the vibrance of Palma.
