Mallorca is an excellent destination for bird enthusiasts as Mallorca's location in the Mediterranean places it as an ideal rest stop for birds migrating between Europe and Africa in the spring and autumn.

Some of the bird species you will likely spot at S'Albufera include Kentish Plovers, Spoonbills, Black-winged Stilts, Glossy Ibis and even Flamingos. For birdwatchers wishing to visit Mallorca, Puerto de Pollensa is an ideal base for bird watching for its proximity to the S'Albufera Nature Park, the sea cliffs of Formentor and the mountains to the north. Within walking distance of Pollensa is Boquer valley which is a great location to spot migrant birds. In the spring and autumn, bird enthusiasts from all over the world congregate at the Hotel Pollensa every Monday and Friday afternoon at 3pm. The area surrounding the Formentor Peninsula is a wildlife protected area and the odd rock formations by the sea is famous for nesting seabirds. Among the wildlife you'll find in this area are black kites, bee-eaters, Audouin's Gull., black vultures, booted eagles, honey buzzards, and the Eleanora falcon, a rare bird of prey on Mallorca.
