About Mallorca: Introduction |

|
Mallorca's character is shaped, above all, by it's climate. Mallorca enjoys a Mediterannean island climate with moderate summer temperatures, mild autumns and pleasant cool winters with temperatures rarely drifting below zero. Mallorca's coasts and beaches offer wonderful experiences to offer to its visitors. Fronted by an emerald sea glittering with diamonds of light, shaded by tall palms rustling in the breeze, Mallorca is full of pleasant surprises: hidden coves and dramatic cliffs, secluded bays curled around pristine beaches, evening skies woven with colour. On Mallorca, a wide variety of possible experiences are available to those fortunate enough to set foot on its shores - lazy and languid, energetic and outdoors, indulgent and regenerative, cultural and enlightening. Each region of Mallorca has its own particular appeal - the northeast for history, the east coast for beaches and caves, the north and west for spectacular mountains and picture-postcard villages. And you haven't seen Mallorca until you have driven across es pla, the fertile plain at the centre of the island, with its almond groves, windmills and old market towns. Almost 40% of Mallorca island is protected countryside. There are the towns Pollensa, in the north, and Soller, near the west coast, where you can wander in pleasant isolation amidst stunningly beautiful scenery. ![]() Lifestyle on Mallorca Mallorca is known as one of the most beautiful and exotic spanish islands in the Mediterranean. Its people know how to live life at a leisurely pace - they still have time to while away their days in the shade, engage in long conversations over a cup of coffee, take siestas rather than hurrying back to work, enjoy the outdoors whether it is the mountain or the sea. The lackadaisical nature of Mallorca has long attracted outsiders to its shores, but it is a delight to see that not much has changed in the values of Mallorca's residents, who continue to be courteous, proud and self-sufficient. Palma de Mallorca Mallorca's capital, the city of Palma, is a centre of business, politics and culture. But beyond the vibrancy and modernism of one of Europe's most frequented destinations, is a history so diverse it is difficult to know where to start. Palma has a harbor where fishermen mend their nets within view of chic new restaurants, museums, and trendy bars. Palma's particular charm is enhanced by the fact that it still has a beautiful old quarter, where around every corner and along each narrow street, lies evidence of a city so deeply marked by history. With a mixture of Roman, Gothic, Baroque and Moorish influences, Palma's Old Town consists of a warren of narrow alleyways, ancient mansions, and lively bars, not to mention fantastic shoe shops. An ideal destination Mallorca has many faces, but the island is large enough to support a variety of lifestyles. So regardless of whether your interests lie in the discovery of culinary delights, Gothic architecture, hilltop villages, olive groves or hidden beaches, Mallorca has a place for you.
